Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma
The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma is a resource center and program developed for students, educators, journalists and news organizations interested in the intersection of journalism and trauma issues. This organization focuses on informed, innovative, and ethical news reporting following traumatic events including violence, conflict, and tragedy.
ISTSS and The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma have a strong collaborative relationship. The two organizations worked in partnership to establish the Ochberg Fellowship, named after Dr. Frank Ochberg, a pioneering psychiatrist in the study of trauma. This fellowship recognizes journalists seeking to deepen their coverage of violence and traumatic events. Fellowships are awarded to mid-career journalists in all media who have covered issues ranging from street crime, family violence, and natural disasters to war and genocide.
