Welcome to the ISTSS Advance Training in Traumatic Stress Certificate Program

The ISTSS Certificate Program offers the unique opportunity for members to further their training in traumatic stress through a course of workshops and lectures from world-renown clinical and research experts. One of ISTSS' best resources is its members who are leading clinicians and researchers across a wide span of topics relate to traumatic stress. This certificate program capitalizes on their expertise to provide a personalized training program for clinicians and researchers who desire advanced training in this field.

Participants are allowed to choose from an array of online workshops across four main subject areas*:

Psychological Treatment of PTSD
Working with Specialized Populations
Neurological and Pharmacological Treatment of PTSD
Human Rights and Ethical Issues

* Courses must be purchased separately. Choose audio or video coures with CE Credit when purchasing courses. The $50 fee for the Certificate Program does not include course fees.

To encourage breadth of training, participants expected to complete at least one workshop of their choice in each domain for a total of 21 credits to complete the program. To encourage depth of training, participants are expected to further delve into one or more of these domains, taking additional workshops. This combination allows for a personalized training experience that will match the needs across a wide range of professionals.

Who is eligible?

ISTSS Members in good standing. This includes student members.
Minimum of a BA or BS in a mental health discipline. (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Health and Human Services, Community Mental Health, Early Childhood Studies, Social Gerontology, Cognitive Science, Child and Family Studies, Divinity/Pastoral Counseling)

How do I register?

Members can register for the program online for a one-time fee of $50 USD. This is payable upon registration for the advanced training program This fee will cover the administration of the training, verification and generation of documentation of this training. How do I take the courses?

Currently, all of the eligible courses are offered online.

Purchase any of the Expert Trainings Audio or Video Courses. Select courses marked "With CE Credit."
Take the online quiz and course evaluation.
Go to the Certificate program page to log your course in the appropriate category.**
Once you complete 21 credits with at least 1 course in each of the required categories, click "Finalize Credits" to print a certificate.

* Quizzes must be passed with a pass/fail of 75%.
** Courses must be completed within 5 years of registration for the Certificate Program.

How long is verification of Advanced Training valid?

The verification is valid for 5 years upon completion. After the five year period, you can maintain your Certificate by participating in at least 7 hours of approved courses every two years and continuing to log these in your online training log.

What will I receive upon completion?

Upon completion of the program, you will be able to print a certificate, suitable for framing with your name, showing your total hours of advanced ISTSS endorsed training in the field of traumatic stress studies.
