Kluwer Academic/Plenum has published a new book edited by ISTSS members Bonnie L. Green, Matthew J. Friedman, Joop de Jong, Susan D. Solomon, Terence M. Keane, John A. Fairbank, Brigid Donelan and Ellen Frey-Wouters. Trauma Interventions in War and Peace: Prevention, Practice and Policy addresses a global perspective of the psychological aftermath of large-scale catastrophes and individual violence.

Kluwer to Join WHO's Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative

Kluwer Academic Publishers, publisher of ISTSS's Journal of Traumatic Stress and other scientific material, announced its participation in the World Health Organization's Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative. The initiative is an aspect of the Health InterNetwork project, which aims to strengthen public health services by providing public health workers, researchers and policy-makers access to relevant, timely health information through an Internet portal.

ISTSS Endorses Conference on Innovations in Trauma Research Methods; Initial Meeting Set for 2004

The National Institute of Mental Health has approved funding for a five-year project to support an annual Conference on Innovations in Trauma Research Methods (CITRM). The authors of the application and investigator team directing the grant are Lynda King and Daniel King, both from the National Center for PTSD and Boston University; Jeffrey Sonis, the University of North Carolina Medical School; and Elisa Triffleman, The Public Health Institute, Oakland, California, and Yale University School of Medicine. Supplemental funding is provided by the National Center for PTSD Executive Branch in White River Junction, Vermont, and conference logistics are being handled by the Boston VA Research Institute Inc.

ISTSS Submits Ideas to Health Initiative for Possible Funding of Global Health Challenges

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health and the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, has established an initiative to support scientific and technological research that addresses Grand Challenges in Global Health.
