CITRM Conference to Feature Trauma Experts, New Perspectives, Methodologies

The Conference on Innovations in Trauma Research Methods (CITRM; www.citrm.org) will be held on November 6–7, 2005, at the Radisson Admiral Toronto Harbourfront Hotel, Toronto, Canada, following the ISTSS 21st Annual Meeting. The theme for CITRM 2005 is “Longitudinal Methods in Trauma Research.” The conference program reflects CITRM’s aim to feature expertise within the trauma field as well as new perspectives and methodologies from related disciplines.

U.S. Health Professionals’ Call to Prevent Torture

The official statement released by ISTSS this summer on the practice of torture in the modern world (see Traumatic StressPoints, Summer 2005), represents an important scientific perspective, with implications for public policy and the prevention of trauma. The statement explicitly declares that the ISTSS mission “includes the condemnation of all forms of torture” (page 1), and that “we reject any justification for the use of torture” (page 5).

ISTSS Participates in 2005 CFC Campaign

Each year the U.S. government’s Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) publishes a directory of organizations to which donations by U.S. federal employees can be made. This year, for the first time, ISTSS is included in the list of potential recipients.

Electronic Journal Access and New Dues Structures Offer Choices for ISTSS Members

The move to a new publisher for the Journal of Traumatic Stress means greatly expanded online access to journal content for ISTSS members. At its midyear meeting in Stockholm, the ISTSS board also approved new dues structures that provide more options for members and more affordable membership fees for members around the world. These decisions are responsive to member feedback about dues levels and build on careful work by many members of the Finance, International Structure and Affiliations, and Membership committees.
