and Resilience SIG

Mission Statement

The mission of the Intergenerational Transmission of Trauma and Resilience Special Interest Group (SIG) is to understand the lifetime consequences of trauma across generations.  The group is interested in studying and promoting the role of both vulnerability and resilience to trauma, prevention of re-traumatization and transmission of traumatization and its legacies.

This mission is accomplished through:

• Submitting research, theory and clinical presentations in the areas of intergenerational traumatization and resilience at the ISTSS annual meeting

• Maintaining a collegial support network through annual meetings, collaboration and listserv communication

• Disseminating relevant knowledge and information to SIG and ISTSS members via the Web Site and organizational newsletters

• Serving as a resource to professionals, policy makers, and the public by providing information and educational materials
