Presentation Update

Note these updates to the educational sessions of the 22nd Annual Meeting.

The following session has been added to a new Late Breaker track, which takes place Monday, November 6. 

•    8:00 – 9:15 a.m.    
Hospital Under Missile Attacks: Symptoms Suggest the Need of Nurses' Preventive Intervention, will be presented by Nir Essar, MD.       
•    9:30 – 10:45 a.m.    
Controversies Surrounding the Psychological Risks of Vietnam for U.S. Veterans:  Multiple Perspectives on New Evidence, will be presented by Bill Schlenger, PhD, Dean Kilpatrick, PhD, and colleagues.
•    11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.    
The Psychological Consequences of Hurricane Katrina; Implications for Intervention: Results from The Hurricane Katrina Community Advisory Group will be presented by Fran Norris, PhD, Lynda King, PhD, Sandro Galea, MD, DrPh, Russell Jones, PhD, and Charles Marmar, MD.
•    1:30 – 2:45 p.m.        
The Wrath of God: A Faith-Based Survival Paradigm (Video Interviews of Survivors in the Earthquake Region of Pakistan), will be presented by Samoon Ahmad, MD, with discussants Steven Southwick, MD, and Dennis S. Charney, MD.
•     3:00 - 4:15 p.m.
Resilience-Based and Trauma-Focused Interventions for Children Following Katrina: Clinical Issues will be presented by Mya Thornburgh, MPH, MSW, Yael Hoffman, MPH, MSW, Whitney Fry, MPH, and Leslie Snider, MD, MPH.


Charles Figley, PhD, has been added to the Past President’s Forum which takes place on Sunday, Nov. 5, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Multidimensional Aspects of Advocacy for Trauma and ISTSS at the United Nations will take place on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 3:00 – 4:15 p.m, not from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. as was printed in the preliminary program.

Hotel Space
Our host hotel, the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, has sold out for all nights of the meeting. The overflow hotel, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is sold out for Nov. 4.  f you are still seeking a room, contact the hotels on a regular basis as rooms may open up due to cancellations and changes. Visit the ISTSS Web site for alternate hotels within walking or easy driving distance.

Register for the Meeting Today

To be considered pre-registered for the meeting, your registration, changes or replacements must be received or postmarked by October 17, 2006. After this date, you must register on site.


Full Conference MP3 CD

New this year! At the 22nd Annual Meeting, individual session recordings will be replaced with a full conference recording on MP3 CD. Take home the meeting by ordering an MP3 CD at the exclusive pre-meeting price of $49 for members and $60 for non-members, available only to those individuals attending the conference. Refer to your registration form to reserve your copy today. Your MP3 CD will be mailed to you within three weeks following the conclusion of the conference.
