Kerig Named Editor-in-Chief ISTSS April 2, 2016 The Journal of Traumatic Stress (JTS), the official journal of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), is pleased to announce that Patricia Kerig, PhD, is the new Journal Editor-Elect and will be Editor-in-Chief, beginning January 1, 2017. Patricia K. Kerig received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, with a specialization in children and families. She previously has held faculty appointments at Simon Fraser University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Miami University, and currently is a Professor and the Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at the University of Utah. She is an author of over a hundred books, chapters, scientific papers, and guest-edited special issues devoted to understanding the factors that predict risk, recovery, and resilience among children and families coping with adversity and traumatic stress. Her works include a textbook on Developmental Psychopathology now in its 6th edition, and a forthcoming book to be published by the American Psychological Association on the role of relationships as sources of risk and resilience for traumatized girls. She has been the recipient of research grants from several agencies and foundations, including most recently a 4-year grant from the National Institute of Justice to support a longitudinal study of the emotional, cognitive, interpersonal, and psychophysiological mechanisms underlying the link between childhood trauma exposure and adolescent involvement in the juvenile justice system. Previously the Editor of the ISTSS newsletter, StressPoints, she has served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Traumatic Stress and has been a member of the editorial boards of several other scientific journals. A longstanding member of ISTSS, she also has been an active contributor to other efforts to better understand and remediate the effects of traumatic stress exposure on youth and families, including the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s Juvenile Justice Consortium and the Center for Trauma Recovery and Juvenile Justice. JTS and ISTSS would like to thank the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Daniel Weiss, PhD, for his hard work to make JTS the primary reference for professionals who study and treat a broad diversity of people exposed to events of traumatic stress with life threat in some form, such as war, disaster, accident, violence or abuse, or hostage-taking across all nations and populations.
