Travel Grants Available for ISTSS 2001 Conference

A limited number of travel grants will be available this year, allowing individuals from developing nations to participate in the ISTSS 17th Annual Meeting, December 6-9 in New Orleans, La.

The travel grants are supported by voluntary contributions from ISTSS members. Grants will be awarded by the ISTSS Executive Committee and will be based on written applications received before July 15.

APA Appoints Task Force to Coordinate and Address Trauma Issues

In February 2000, several American Psychological Association (APA) Council representatives met to discuss the issue of trauma and its aftereffects. The group included Laura Brown (Division 35), Maria Root (Washington state), Sari Dworkin (Division 44), Laura Barbanel and Judy Alpert (Division 39), Marty Seligman (past president), and Terry Keane and Edmund Nightingale (both representing Division 18).

ISTSS Awards: Call for Nominations

Each year ISTSS recognizes member achievements through its awards program. The 2001 Awards Committee, chaired by Jos Weerts, is seeking nominations for this year's awards. Nominations must include a one-page statement summarizing the major achievements of the nominee and the nominee's curriculum vitae. Be sure to state the award for which you wish your nominee to be considered.

Baltimore Sun Wins 2001 Dart Award

The Baltimore Sun has won this year's $10,000 Dart Award for Excellence in Reporting on Victims of Violence for its two-part series titled, "The Joseph Palczynski Story."
